Atlantic Airways flight review - Faroe Island to Copenhagen

Atlantic Airways is the home carrier of the Faroe Islands, a territory of Denmark. It has only a small fleet of 3 jets, all narrowbody aircrafts, flying to a limited number of destinations.

It competes with SAS on the Faroe Islands to Copenhagen route, while having a monopoly on all other routes, since I believe only SAS and Atlantic Airways fly to the Faroe Islands currently.

While searching on flights on the Copenhagen to Faroe Island route, I notice that SAS offers the lowest price going there while Atlantic Airways offers the lowest price on the return flight for my travel dates. So I decided to book as such, giving me an opportunity to try out Atlantic Airways for the first time.

I arrived back at the Faroe Islands with plenty of time before departure. So I took a seat close to the check in counters, which only opens 1.5 hours before departure. I guess this is possible due to the small number of passengers and being the only departing flight around that time.

After a quick check-in and with no queues at security, I quickly took a seat at the departure gate. There was only a big duty free shop and a cafe airside. However, the windows provided an unobstructed views of all the aircraft action at the tarmac !

I like the aircraft livery ! Promoting not just itself but also the Faroe Islands.

Seating in the plane is the usual 3-3 configuration with reasonably comfortable seats.

Once airborne, the gloomy weather soon became clear above the clouds. Liked the livery at the wingtip !

The coffee/tea service is complimentary with buy-on-board food options. They do offer other complimentary drinks on the house too! This is better than most other intra-European carriers with only coffee/tea service.

I saw the menu promoting the salmon salad only on the Copenhagen route for a reasonable price so decided to take up the offer. It was quite delicious.

Even the water is specially made !

Had a coffee after my meal

A small, promising airline. Their refreshment service is definitely better than most other European carriers. I do wish them success in their future flights. Hopefully, they could expand their network and introduce more tourists to the Faroe Islands. Perhaps one day they could embark on U.S. and Europe connections, given their geographical location. Similar to what Icelandair and wow airlines is doing with Iceland.
