After Skopje, I wanted to visit Dubrovnik, in Croatia. Dubrovnik has long been on my wish list. I have seen countless beautiful photos of Dubrovnik old city by the Adriatic sea and hoping that one day I can make it to this city.
Anyway, many attempts to search for flights from Skopje to Dubrovnik yielded expensive and inconvenient flight times. So one day, a flight routing appeared on google flights and bookable on Expedia. This routing will take me from Skopje to Vienna to Munich (overnight) and a morning flight to Dubrovnik, giving me the day to explore the city. The fare is reasonable as well, so I quickly booked it.
Fortunately, the flight booking is successful and at Skopje airport, I was issued the boarding passes on Austria airlines on the sectors Skopje->Vienna, Vienna->Munich and on Lufthansa airlines Munich->Dubrovnik.
On the map, it might look like a big detour to get from Skopje, Macedonia to Dubrovnik, Croatia. But I don't mind the travelling, since it gave me the chance to visit Vienna and Munich as well. Though unfortunately, my flight arrived into Munich late, so I decided not to leave Munich airport. Oh well.
Anyway, my Austria airline flight departed late to Vienna due to a heavy downpour at Skopje airport, giving me less, but still sufficient time to explore Vienna.
Austria airline is a full-service airline. On the short haul, intra-Europe flight, I was served a snack and a drink.

At Skopje airport, while waiting for my flight, I decided to spend my remaining Macedonian currency to purchase some food. Prices are reasonable for airport location.
On this flight operated by a narrowbody aircraft, seating and legroom is as usual. No PTV is provided.
The inflight magazine kept me occupied. The window scenery is great too.
Being a full service airline on a short haul flight in Europe, economy passengers are provided only a snack and a drink.
On a similar length flight in Asia, a meal would have been provided.
Paid wifi is available onboard
Coming to land and overflying an airport
After landing and exiting the airport, I took the metro train with a connection to Stephansplatz. There is a faster but more costly airport train but I opted for the slightly slower but cheaper subway train.
Upon exiting Stephansplatz subway station, this is the view:
Yup. The main attraction in Vienna is the grand St. Stephen cathedral.
The interior of the cathedral
Horse-drawn carriage. I'm definitely in Europe.
After visiting the Cathedral and wandering around Stephansplatz alleys filled with shops, I returned to the airport, taking the same subway.
In conclusion, Austria Airlines offers friendly but forgettable service on the short haul intra-Europe flight, much like other airlines. Though definitely better than no service on budget airline.
In my next European trip, I hope to return to Austria again, this time visiting Salzburg.
